Introducing "Visionary Vultures 3," the eagerly anticipated sequel in our collectible art pin series, following the success of first two projects: Visionary Vultures 1 - New World and Visionary Vultures 2 - Owls & Old World.
Our name is inspired by our vision of a world where vultures are cherished for their vital role in maintaining our ecosystems. We imagine a world where vultures thrive in their natural habitats, where so many species are no longer teetering on the edge of extinction. With a deep passion for connecting people and wildlife through art, we have crafted these wearable creations to inspire conversations about species in need and ignite a spark of change.
Why Vultures
Vultures are the most imperiled family of birds in the world and are in desperate need of support. They offer critical services purifying and preventing disease through their necessary clean-up work, protecting the health of ecosystems, other wildlife, and humans alike. Far from the greedy, sinister monsters that too many people think they are, vultures are intelligent, social, peaceful, gregarious birds.
Unfairly maligned, it is of great importance to help change peoples' attitudes towards these amazing birds. The way they are represented in media matters. These beautiful pins strive to help people spread the good word; vultures rock! In this exciting set, we add three new vulture species to our collection, along with select other birds and for our first time a few mammals; wolves!
Why Raptors and Corvids?
Through wildlife rescue and rehabilitation services, our non-profit branch Foxloft Conservancy helps hundreds of birds in need each year, specializing in birds of prey and corvids. We care deeply for these birds and have a great appreciation for the valuable ecosystem services they provide (especially in natural rodent and pest control!). We wanted to share this love through art, and create pins which would be a fitting tribute to them.
Why Wolves?
Where earth and sky meet: both wolves and raptors are apex predators, playing a crucial role in maintaining balanced ecosystems. They control the population of their prey species, thereby preventing overpopulation which could lead to a depletion of resources. The interaction between wolves and birds of prey is not just metaphorical but can be quite direct. Scavenging raptors may feed on the remains of wolf kills, tying their survival closely together.
The similarities between these species extends to their hunting techniques. Harris's Hawks, much like wolves, are known for remarkable teamwork, with individual birds fulfilling different roles to take down prey. Other raptors, such as bald eagles, also engage in group hunts, displaying a similar level of cooperation and strategic planning.
Raptors and wolves will both opportunistically scavenge, but corvids are specialists in clean-up duty. Enter ravens - the 'wolf birds'. Ravens can develop special bonds with individual wolves, and their relationship goes beyond shared meals, it’s a playful one. Ravens have been observed playing tug-of-war with wolf pups, teasing them by dropping sticks to catch, and tugging wolf tails to get a reaction. This quirky camaraderie sometimes extends to other corvids, like magpies and crows, who delight in similar playful antics.
Beyond their roles as predators, wolves, raptors, and corvids share a deep-rooted value for family. They are protective, dutiful parents, guiding their young through life's survival lessons and fostering the success of the next generation. Showcasing a symphony of interdependence and shared values, we celebrate the ties that bind the masters of earth and sky in our new art collection.
Each meticulously designed pin seeks to capture the essence of these remarkable creatures—the fierce grace of raptors, the untamed spirit of wolves, and the intelligent playfulness of corvids. *Pin designs are mock-ups of the final designs are subject to minor changes during final production. Sizes will be approx. 2-3.5" tall x 1.25-1.5" wide depending on design. These pins are limited edition collectibles and will come with two backing posts for secure wear. Even if you don't wear jewelry, these pins look great adorning backpacks, purses or other gear. They can even be framed and displayed as the pieces of art that they are!

Each one-of-a-kind painting is approximately 5-6" x 10-11", painted on 9" x 12" archival watercolor paper and is signed by the artists (except the flying turkey vulture which is larger and painted on 12" x 18" paper). Media: Watercolor, Ink, and multi-media.

Fine art prints are reproductions of the original paintings on heavy, archival paper. Each print will come packaged in a protective clear sleeve with a backing board. They will look great displayed on your wall, or make great gift ideas for any bird lover in your life!
Pricing for prints is as follows :
Print sizes (featuring an Andean Condor design from a previous project) - 8.5x11" on left, 5x7" on right with a standard pencil for scale.
You can add additional items to your pledge by simply choosing the item(s) you would like in the add-on page that comes up after you choose your pledge tier. All add-ons require the base pledge to be at pin tier ($20) or up so that shipping is calculated correctly. If you pick a sticker only ($5 or $15) tier and add-ons, we will contact you about the additional shipping charges if necessary.
Please note that due to major global supply chain and shipping issues I made a generous estimate for the amount of time it will take to ship pins, trying to account for any uncertainty or delays. We will try to get pins made and shipped as quickly as possible and will keep all backers informed of progress. Please watch your email in the coming months, and make sure your email listed with Kickstarter is correct - if you use an Apple ID this often creates a nonsensical email and you won't receive messages. You can always come back to your Kickstarter account here to check what email you have listed, and look at this page directly under the update tab near the top to catch up on project updates at any time.
Once the project is funded and closes, surveys will be emailed to backers, via a service called Backerkit, to select your pin choices and any optional add-on items. Sticker-only pledges will be sent quickly, as soon as we have the stickers in hand (usually about a month) after project close. It should take around 2-3 months for all the pins to be made, then 1-2 months for them to arrive to us. Pin orders will be promptly shipped out once we receive the pins, but it takes time to individually sort, grade, check, and pack each pin, so please have patience. Updates will be sent by email monthly, sharing progress pictures and keeping you in the loop until your items have shipped.
Estimated timeline:
Tracking and Insurance: We want to do everything we can to make sure your pledges get securely and safely to you! We provide tracking and proof of shipping information via email, standard on all tiers except those which include stickers only of 5 or less. Insurance (covering loss or damage in transit) can be purchased for any tier for a small cost as an optional add-on when selecting your tier.
We cannot control what happens with packages once they are in the hands of the postal service, and as a very small business we can not replaced lost/misdelivered packages that are due to USPS error, so if you are worried about potential delivery issues please purchase the shipping insurance option. If you worry about your packages being stolen once delivered (insurance does not cover packages lost or stolen after they are marked as delivered) please contact us about having it held for pickup at your local post office, or use a different, secure location for delivery.
**UK special info**: Since we are based in the USA, UK shipping requires pre-paid VAT (currently at 20% rate), which we have to collect and remit on your behalf. This will be collected separately at checkout via Backerkit, not with your Kickstarter pledge here. You will get an invoice for the VAT after campaign close when you get your final survey and choose add-ons if you want them. All UK orders will include a receipt when shipped showing the VAT fee has been pre-paid, you don't pay it again when receiving the package.
International Shipping: With exception of UK VAT, buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that your country may apply. We charge actual shipping and packaging costs, we apologize that they are so high to many countries. We've tried to keep the cost as low as possible by streamlining packaging and weight and using a discounted global shipping service. You can help buffer costs by combining orders with friends or purchasing a larger number of pins to offset the charges. It's a lot less expensive per pin to send 10 than to send 1. Potential customs and duties charges are the responsibility of the recipient, please check with your local post on procedure if you have any questions.
Note about shipping to Russia: We cannot currently ship any items to Russia (there is a postal blockade), so if you place a pledge from Russia please have an alternative address in another country where you can have the items sent to.
Abandoned Items: After the campaign closes, surveys will be sent by email to the email you have on file with Kickstarter. If for some reason you aren't hearing from us, please check your account here, as we send messages through Kickstarter directly if we haven't heard back from you about your address or item choices. Sometimes a letter is off in your listed email, the email is old/defunct, or it's going to spam. We will hold your items for a year after fulfillment begins, but if we get no contact then they will be considered abandoned. Please feel free to check in any time, we do try to contact people through other routes but have had people come back five or more years after a campaign is closed asking about items and we don't always still have rewards available with that sort of timeframe. Risks and challenges
We have run and fulfilled multiple successful Kickstarter projects before (this is our 8th!) and have a lot of experience making pins and stickers, so the process is one we're very familiar with, know what to expect, and how to plan. The biggest challenges right now are potential manufacturing and shipping (especially international) delays. There is an unprecedented increase in cost and severe delays around sea transport cargo shipping in particular. We'll be working closely with the various manufacturers involved to try to ensure prompt and safe shipping but as this is a global supply chain problem, there are many unknowns. We will endeavor to get pins to backers as quickly as possible but there is the chance of delay in fulfillment if any of these external parts of the chain get stalled. We built in considerable extra buffer in time estimates for final delivery to account for this, but it can be impossible to predict all delays. We will keep in contact with all backers as the fulfillment process progresses to keep everyone informed of any issues if they arise.

- October 2023-February 2024 - Pin magic! While they're being made, monthly progress updates and photos will be sent by email and posted to this page to keep you informed.
- February/March 2024- After a final quality check, pins/jewelry items will ready and will be shipped out to backers. You will get a notification and have a chance to change your address at least 48 hours before items are shipped in case you move during the process.
- March-April 2024 - Pins are received by backers. Please allow additional time for international shipping.
Tracking and Insurance: We want to do everything we can to make sure your pledges get securely and safely to you! We provide tracking and proof of shipping information via email, standard on all tiers except those which include stickers only of 5 or less. Insurance (covering loss or damage in transit) can be purchased for any tier for a small cost as an optional add-on when selecting your tier.
We cannot control what happens with packages once they are in the hands of the postal service, and as a very small business we can not replaced lost/misdelivered packages that are due to USPS error, so if you are worried about potential delivery issues please purchase the shipping insurance option. If you worry about your packages being stolen once delivered (insurance does not cover packages lost or stolen after they are marked as delivered) please contact us about having it held for pickup at your local post office, or use a different, secure location for delivery.
**UK special info**: Since we are based in the USA, UK shipping requires pre-paid VAT (currently at 20% rate), which we have to collect and remit on your behalf. This will be collected separately at checkout via Backerkit, not with your Kickstarter pledge here. You will get an invoice for the VAT after campaign close when you get your final survey and choose add-ons if you want them. All UK orders will include a receipt when shipped showing the VAT fee has been pre-paid, you don't pay it again when receiving the package.
International Shipping: With exception of UK VAT, buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that your country may apply. We charge actual shipping and packaging costs, we apologize that they are so high to many countries. We've tried to keep the cost as low as possible by streamlining packaging and weight and using a discounted global shipping service. You can help buffer costs by combining orders with friends or purchasing a larger number of pins to offset the charges. It's a lot less expensive per pin to send 10 than to send 1. Potential customs and duties charges are the responsibility of the recipient, please check with your local post on procedure if you have any questions.
Note about shipping to Russia: We cannot currently ship any items to Russia (there is a postal blockade), so if you place a pledge from Russia please have an alternative address in another country where you can have the items sent to.
Abandoned Items: After the campaign closes, surveys will be sent by email to the email you have on file with Kickstarter. If for some reason you aren't hearing from us, please check your account here, as we send messages through Kickstarter directly if we haven't heard back from you about your address or item choices. Sometimes a letter is off in your listed email, the email is old/defunct, or it's going to spam. We will hold your items for a year after fulfillment begins, but if we get no contact then they will be considered abandoned. Please feel free to check in any time, we do try to contact people through other routes but have had people come back five or more years after a campaign is closed asking about items and we don't always still have rewards available with that sort of timeframe. Risks and challenges
We have run and fulfilled multiple successful Kickstarter projects before (this is our 8th!) and have a lot of experience making pins and stickers, so the process is one we're very familiar with, know what to expect, and how to plan. The biggest challenges right now are potential manufacturing and shipping (especially international) delays. There is an unprecedented increase in cost and severe delays around sea transport cargo shipping in particular. We'll be working closely with the various manufacturers involved to try to ensure prompt and safe shipping but as this is a global supply chain problem, there are many unknowns. We will endeavor to get pins to backers as quickly as possible but there is the chance of delay in fulfillment if any of these external parts of the chain get stalled. We built in considerable extra buffer in time estimates for final delivery to account for this, but it can be impossible to predict all delays. We will keep in contact with all backers as the fulfillment process progresses to keep everyone informed of any issues if they arise.
